Homemade DNA KIT

The gathering of biological items from your child can provide valuable information to law enforcements should your child even become missing. In the event you should ever need to have to the DNA analyzed, law enforcement will then be able to complete that process from the items gathered in this kit.

The following items are the necessary items to make up a DNA kit for one child or one adult.

1). 1 (One) pair of new latex gloves

2). 4 or 5 (Four or Five) Zip Lock Bags

3). 1 (One) inexpensive new plastic comb

4). 3 (three) small guaze squares or 3 (three) Q-Tips with the cotton cut off of one end of each.

5). 1 (One) Fingernail Clipper

6). 1 (One) Styromfoam Cup

7). 1 Baby Tooth

8). 1 (One) Heavy-Duty, Zip-Lock Frreezer Bag

Put the gloves on before performing any of the following steps:

Run the plastic comb through the child's hair. Leave all loose hair in the comb and drop the comb and hair into the first small Zip-Lock Bag.

Use 1 gauze square or Q-tip and swab it inside the child's right cheek. Repeat this procedure swabbing the inside of the left cheek. Drop either both the swabs, or Q-tips into the second small Zip-Lock bag.

Use the fingernail clippers, clip the child's fingernails and place the clippings into the third small Zip-Lock bag.

Use the remaining guaze the next time your child skins their knee to preserve a sample of his/her blood. Place this into the fourth small Zip-Lock bag.

If your child has lost any baby teeth and you still have any of them, place one of these into a fifth small Zip-Lock bag.

Have your child lightly bite down on the side of the Styrofoam cup to created an impression of their teeth, (both upper and lower teeth at the same time). Cut the side of the cup around the area of the bite being careful not to disturb the impressions. Write top on the side where the top teeth mark is and place the piece of Styrofoam into the large Zip-Lock bag.

Place all the small Zip-Lock bags containing the items collected into the large Zip-Lock freezer bag.

Label the bag with a permanent marker with the following information:

1. Your Child's Name

2. The date the kit was made and sealed.

3. Your full name as the person who sealed the kit.

4. Place the entire kit into your freezer. The kit should stay well preserved for many years provided it remains unopened and frozen.

5. Retrieve the items from only one person at a time and seal the bags before starting to gether items from another person.

6. Repeat the above steps to make a DNA kit for each individual child or person in the same manner.
